7 Valentine’s Day Date Ideas To Keep You Connected

Romance may seem like the last thing on your mind as you prepare for your baby’s arrival if you’re expecting OR is you have kids (young and old) running around the house. Still, it’s important to incorporate date nights with your partner, especially after the baby is born. With Valentine’s Day around the corner, we thought we would help you out and share seven Valentine’s Day date ideas to enjoy together.

1. Vacation in your hometown.

Yes, you can vacation in your hometown and still have it feel like a vacation. Often, we tend to overlook the diamonds in our backyard or put them off for another day to assume that we will see it another time. Become a tourist and visit a romantic bed and breakfast, park, or even some of your favorite childhood destinations to share.

2. Cook dinner together

Food always tastes better when it’s made with love. Plan to have a quiet dinner at home. Cook one of your favorite meals together or try something new! Life's special moments don’t only involve food, but moments can also be creating food. It’s no surprise that time in the kitchen will strengthen the bond between couples when they cook together.

3. Order Gourmet

If you and your partner are both happy to admit that your cooking skills aren’t the best, don’t worry. Order gourmet or have a chef come in to prepare a romantic four-course meal for both of you.

4. Get a Couple’s Massage

Getting pampered together is a wonderful way to bond. It’s incredibly relaxing and sets the tone for a laidback, happy date night to come. There are likely hotels or spas nearby that offer massages, either a side-by-side couples option or independent massages you can enjoy separately. Some massage therapists will even come to your home to provide the ultimate in relaxation for two. See what you can find!

Another option for an at-home date night is to take turns giving each other a massage.

5. Create a Bucket List together

Creating goals to pursue as a couple is fulfilling and wonderful for your marriage! One of our favorite suggested date nights is to design a bucket list together. Include a range of goals for you to do as a couple as well as with your new bundle of joy. Doing this side by side is not only super fun, but it gets you thinking more deeply about your shared life together.

6. Go Star Gazing

Gazing at the stars together is one of those genuinely romantic date ideas ideal for any dreamy couple. Take a drive away from city lights and equip yourself with a torch and a constellation map of the night sky. You can easily download an app onto your phone that displays all of the stars and constellations.

7. Create a Scavenger Hunt

Send your sweetie on a romantic treasure hunt! Pick up some of their favorites, such as their favorite candy, magazine, or even little love notes. Hide them all over your house, then deliver your partner some clues to help them find everything.

Bonus points for theming it. For example, have them find everything they need for a relaxing soak in a hot bath – salts, relaxing music, a good book, a rubber duck, loose rose petals – and then leave them to it in the bathroom afterward.
